I checked my emails just a couple hours ago as we sat in the Cincinnati airport waiting to fly to Denver. From there, we will head home to Boise after sweet weekend trip for a friend’s wedding in Ohio. I had a new inquiry in my inbox wondering how I could help them learn marketing and social media.
It’s one of my most frequently asked questions from my lovely potential customers: what packages do you offer? And what is the process like?
If you are wondering what the basic process is for getting new words on your website, look no further! Let’s look at what my process is for writing a new website. Honestly? It’s pretty basic.
1. The research
First things first: I have to figure out who you are and what your business is about. This first step of the process looks like a solid questionnaire that you fill out describing your business mission and service. After that, we schedule an hour meeting over Zoom so I can continue to get inside your head and understand everything about your unique offering.
2. The writing
This is the part where you sit back and pray the magic works. 😉 This part honestly doesn’t involve you very much at all, although I might email you or voice message you here and there to make sure I have the correct information. Behind the scenes, I’ll be busy setting timers for myself to sit down and type words in a document and then rearrange them and delete them and play around with them to make sure they describe your business and appeal to your ideal client in the best possible way.
3. The edits
Here you come in to critique me hard and tell me what is on and off about what I’ve written. (I’ll share the text all with you via a Google Doc that you can edit using the Suggestions feature). Ideally we have another Zoom call or phone call at this point so you can describe to me what’s good and bad and what can be tweaked and made better. This is where you will start to see all the parts of what you’ve been trying to get at come together!
4. The finale
I finish and deliver the happy final document to you. You plug the words in on your site. And then finally RELAX knowing that the words on your website clearly and accurately say what you mean, and will be compelling to the client you idealize.
If you’ve been uncomfortable with the words on your website for way too long, you don’t have to be! Click here to schedule a free consultation call if you want more info. Or email me here. Maybe now you’ll know more what you’re inquiring about.
