Brand + Website Copy Project: Chef Brian Michael

Ethical Marketing

Have you ever had a happy fantasy about being an incredible chef? You know the kind… the ones that whip up simple, incredible dishes at the the drop of a hat? The ones that use ordinary ingredients to create flavors that melt in your mouth, bring tears to your eyes, and make you forget, just for a minute, about the things that are weighing you down.

I can make a decent meal, but I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a professional chef. That’s why it was such a delightful experience to dive into Chef Brian’s world for several weeks. I had the honor of crafting the foundational words for his brand, as well as copy for his website.

Selected Copy Package

Brian and his wife Alexandria opted to go with the Complete Brand + Website Copy (with a few tweaks, as I’ll talk about below). They had originally thought they mostly needed website copy, but when I detailed out what is included in the Brand Copy option, they thought it sounded like the perfect fit. Website copy is always better when it is written off of a strong foundation and understanding of the brand as a whole, and this was the perfect example of that.

Customizations

While Brian and Alexandria felt like they needed significant help with their website copy, they also didn’t feel like it all needed thrown out completely. So, instead of the typical four pages of website copy that is the starting amount for the Brand + Web Copy package, they opted for me to write two of the pages of copy and only audit the other two main pages they were wanting refreshed. Tweaking the typical package in this way also enabled me to keep the project budget a little under what it would have been otherwise, and gave them the services that were most helpful.

Client Feedback

Here’s what Alexandria said after the very first draft of the brand messaging: “Brian and I were in tears!!! (Happy Tears🥹) You nailed it my friend!! It’s incredible to see it all coming together and articulated so well AND straight to the heart of who we are as a business / service provider.”

Of course, that’s the actual best thing to hear after you pour your heart and soul into crafting words that encapsulate a business!
